Alan Salmon Part I and II

The Bookkeeping Office of the Future Today – Part I
(Using Technology to Make your Practice More Profitable)

In 2013, the technology focus for bookkeepers will be on UltraBooks, mobile technologies, larger monitors, Windows 8, Office 15 and Internet Explorer 10. Your client and personal world is full of digital data. From downloaded bank and vendor statements, to Notice to Reader statements, to client tax returns, wills, personal financial data, and much more. Where do you keep all this stuff, is it secure, and could you find it all if you really needed it.

From hardware to software, this session reviews tips and tricks to make your technology experience for your bookkeeping practice better than ever. In this session, you will learn how to take advantage of lesser-known capabilities in commonly used tools. You will understand the key software that is a must for any bookkeeping practice. From gadgets to gizmos, and software to help manage your desktop, these are the items you do not want to be without! Finally, as an added bonus, Alan will share with you his five favorite Microsoft Office tips.

The Bookkeeping Office of the Future Today – Part II
(Using Cloud Computing to Make your Practice More Profitable)

You have heard about cloud computing, but most bookkeepers do not really understand what it is really all about. In this session, you will learn about the benefits and risks associated with moving to the cloud. Included will be actual demonstrations of the cloud services that are invaluable to bookkeepers. These will include accounting, backup, spreadsheets, document management, and data storage solutions. In addition, you will understand when to use the cloud and when to stick to the traditional on premise programs. Although tablet computing is not all cloud related, it is an important part of the cloud model. The session will cover the current tablet applications, what a tablet is ideal for in your practice and when it should not be used. Alan will use his new iPad 3 to show you, on the big screen, some of his favorite bookkeeping related apps. From this presentation you will learn how efficient, productive, and profitable your bookkeeping firm can be by taking advantage of today's cloud technologies.
