IPBC is the thought leader in the Canadian bookkeeping profession, we are the organization that professional bookkeepers join – and remain with – through all stages of their career. In an ongoing effort to strengthen our certification program, the IPBC has created and a tiered pathway to certification, thereby providing more opportunities to those who wish to obtain their IPBC Certified Professional Bookkeeper designation (CPB).

The IPBC tiered pathway to certification allows individuals to develop and build a career in bookkeeping and to join the IPBC at any stage of their career path. Our four Tiers membership expands the pathway for Members from both an academic and experience level which provides two methods of obtaining our Certified Professional BookkeeperTM - CPB designation through either an:

1) EDUCATIONAL PATHWAY – this path will require fulfilling the pre-requisite requirements for each Tier before moving on to the next, and is designed for students who have recently graduated and have little or no work-experience.

2) EXPERIENCE PATHWAY – this path acknowledges bookkeepers that have obtained certain levels of experience and skill sets through on-the-job training, and offers challenge exams that can be taken based on the number of years of work-experience you have in the bookkeeping and accounting field.
