Track 3 - Presented by Jeff MacFarlane, CA, T2 Canada: Basic Corporate Tax for Bookkeepers
Come to this session to learn how you can prepare better year-end files for the accountants who prepare your clients' corporate tax returns - and in the process, learn how to get more referral work from those accountants. Even if they are not preparing them, bookkeepers have more of an impact on their clients’ corporate tax returns than they may realize. We’ll discuss some of the decisions that bookkeepers make and how they may affect the tax return. Topics will include issues like business versus personal expense and capital items versus expense items. We’ll look at the basic criteria for making such decisions. Then, follow along as Jeff goes through the process his firm uses to analyze financial statements prior to preparing a corporate tax return so that you can see exactly what information accountants need to prepare the corporate returns.

Track 5 - Presented by Canadian Payroll Association: Current and Emerging Payroll Issues
Legislative changes are profoundly impacting the way Accounting and Finance professionals deal with payroll. Learn about the issues affecting your payroll operations and prepare yourself for future changes. This session will focus on updates from the Canada Revenue Agency, the Ministry of Revenue in Quebec, Service Canada and other bodies. Stay on top of the changes impacting payroll this year and moving into 2013. Emphasis will be on recent changes to the Canada Pension Plan and impacts from the Federal Budget earlier this year.
