Business Data–Risks of Unauthorized Access & What You Should Know About It

Presented by Garth Wardle, Founder and CEO of Allsite IT Services Inc (AIT)

Last month our speaker spotlighted unauthorized use of personal data and the Facebook / Cambridge Analytica scandal. This talk delves deeper into how client and operational data can be at risk without your knowledge and the steps that can be taken to prevent it.

In today’s climate of heightened awareness and fear about cyber security and the prevalence of digital and social media, a data breach – particularly one that’s not handled well – can cause an organization immeasurable damage.

The unauthorized use or sharing of data has become such a concern that governments like the European Union have tightened their compliance regimes under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR, May 2018) and the Canadian government introduced changes to the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA, Nov 2018). The new rules have sweeping compliance, legal risk and related impacts for organizations that process information about Canadians … Are you ready? Is your business data secure from prying eyes?

During this meeting we will uncover exposure risks within your firms from both staff and clients alike and what can be done to safeguard your businesses.

(Please Note this is the cancelled February 11 meeting rescheduled. If you were registered you are automatically carried over)

Regional Network Chair (RNC) - Shirley Franklin CMA, CPB

Attending this meeting qualifies for one Professional Development Credit

The cost of the meeting is $5.00 and you are responsible for your meal and beverage.

Dining out with food allergies can be a challenge, but it can be done safely. The best way to stay safe is by being informed and communicating your needs.

Before you go: ‘Be Informed and Inform’. We recommend contacting the restaurant ahead of time and talking to the restaurant manager or Kitchen manager.

At the Restaurant: ‘Communicate’. Talk to the server and your RNC upon arriving and advise them of your food allergies.

Block out time on your calendar for this event right now. Why? Just imagine networking with some of the top bookkeepers in the country. Imagine the chance to be on the fast track to a more lucrative practice, to being a certified professional bookkeeper (CPB) and to receiving greater professional recognition inside and outside of this network.

Regional Meetings are a vital part of that formula for success.

They're a unique chance to combine learning – a guest speaker shares expertise that's sure to make your work a bit easier – with fun and powerful networking.

Each meeting includes a guest speaker with a Q&A session; a discussion among the attendees about a marketing topic, a challenge someone may be facing, or another topic important to you; and networking. Non-members are welcome to attend two meetings to evaluate IPBC. Afterwards, you must join to participate in Regional Meetings.

Our meetings are "Scent Free” and business casual attire is appreciated. This is a business meeting. Please, turn off your cell phone before entering the room, and sorry no children allowed.

We look forward to seeing you there!
